This article will help guide the user through the creation of a round robin stage within an already existing competition in Volleyball Organizer.
1. Select Competition
After you log in to the system select Competitions on the menu located at the left side of the screen, then select the competition for which you will be creating your round robin stage and click on the eye icon in the far right.
2. Create Stage
Once located within the competition, click on the 'CREATE STAGE' button at the bottom-right side of the screen.
Note that if so far no stages have been created within a competition, the system will prompt the user to take notice of this with a yellow waring sign and the due informative message.
2. Set up names, dates, number of teams and stage format
Once you have clicked on 'Create Stage', you'll be able to set up the stage according to your needs. Note that only the items marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
In Stage Type*, select 'Round Robin'. Here you can choose if you will divide the teams into different pools and, if so, how many pools, how many teams per pool, how many times you wish the teams to play against each other and of course you will also be able to name each pool as you like. Once this has been set up as per your needs, click on the 'NEXT' button located on the bottom right side of the screen.
3. Set up the match details for the stage and select the match officials that are to be appointed for each match
- Match Details: Specify how many points are to be played per set and how many sets per match, a specific setting is available for the format of the tie-breaker set.
- Match Officials: Add the type of officials you wish to be present in each of the stage's matches. You can also select a specific referee group which will be the minimum required, so only match officials from the specified group or higher in the rank can participate.
Once this is done, click on the 'CREATE' button located on the bottom right side of the screen.
4. Fill in the Team Grid
Now that the stage has been created, it's time to select the team grid and create the competition's matches. Locate yourself within the stage menu and go to the 'MATCHES' tab, there you'll see the button for 'team grid' with an orange warning sign, letting you know that this requirement is yet to be met, click there.
Now you can choose to manually locate each team within each slot in each of the pools of the stage (different pools are shown as different tabs), do this by clicking in the plus (+) button located at the far right of each slot.
You can also choose to have the slots automatically populated per each pool, to do this, simply click on the 'Populate Slots' button located at the top right from the slots, then the system will ask you to select which teams do you want to play in the current pool, select them and click on 'Populate'.
Before being able to populate the team grid for a specific stage, the teams list must have been added to the competition, see Creating a Team List for information on how to do this.
5. Add the competition's fixtures
These can be automatically generated by the platform according to the stage settings and then populated once the team grid has been populated as well. Fixtures can also be created manually on the platform (How to manually create a fixture) or imported via csv. file (How to Import a Fixture).
