When creating or opening a match, system checks need to be made. Please select Connection Type and run the test. Hard-wire connection is mandatory.
Every item of the system check should have a green check mark, this will guarantee that everything is good from a technical perspective.
Mandatory officials fields: 1st Referee, 2nd Referee, Scorer, Scorer Assistant and Challenge Referee.
The list of players is displayed in the PLAYERS tab. Select the team captain for each team by clicking on the C in front of the desired player. When all steps have been completed click on the SAVE & NEXT button.
If the SAVE & NEXT BUTTON is grayed out, it means that information is still missing and the scorer should go back to fill it out.
The scorer must collect signatures from the team captains.
The team captain can be changed during the coin toss by clicking the small x on the top right corner of the Captain tab:
If the scorer is not sure about the outcome of the coin toss, they should ask a referee.
The application automatically becomes "Connected" after adding the first action of the coin toss, at which point the MSP icon will turn green. If it remains "Disconnected", check the internet connection and request urgent assistance, as the match must be scouted while connected to the Genius Sports database (see image below).
In the SELECT LINEUP selection, confirm the players on the court. Rotate the serving order on the lineup window to match the correct order. An incorrect team order will remain incorrect for all the sets.
During the match
Every action should only be added following the referee's decision, if something is unclear please don't hesitate to ask the 2nd referee.
The Connection Status icon should be green. If the icon is red, please check the internet connection. Once the connection has been re-established, the webcast icon should be green again.
In addition to everything described above, please take a look at the different support articles that describe each of the match workflows related to regular updates:
- Rally Workflow
- Timeout Workflow
- Protest Workflow
- Formal Warning Workflow
- Penalty Workflow
- Challenge workflow
- Medical Assistance Workflow
After the match
The scorer will be prompted to CONTINUE TO SIGN OFF and will need to collect signatures from both captains and 1st referee. If two referees were added for the match, then both referees' signatures are needed.
The scorer will once again need to CONFIRM the final score.
Once the scorer has confirmed, an Uploading to the cloud window will pop up (Data Publish).
Complications
- If the data is not uploading successfully eg: (data upload stuck at 50%), the scorer should check and/or switch the internet connection and try again. If the issue persists, close the application, re-open it on the relevant match from the Existing Matches list and try data upload again.
- For any other issues, don't hesitate to contact our support team at volleysupport@geniussports.com and add data@cev.eu to CC. Please make sure to include all the relevant information (match affected, nature of the issue, and screenshots if possible) so our support team can identify the correct way to investigate and escalate it and provide a solution as soon as possible.
